You can only worry about so many things. Seven to be exact. We’re going to assume you’re already worrying about the big stuff like global warming, the economy. Those don’t really count. Here are some that should be on your top 10 list:
High Fructose Corn Syrup. Yes, you already know it’s B-A-D, but here’s another reason to say away: Mercury has been found in high fructose corn syrup. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/28877253/
Farmed salmon, non-organic bell peppers, industrially raised chickens, and more…http://www.sprig.com/10_Most_Dangerous_Foods
Tires that can fall apart quickly. http://greensciencepolicy.org/?page_id=17
Palm oil. Destroying acres of rain forests.
If you live in California…your couch. Children and pets are the most affected. California has the strictest “safety” fire safety standards, which means foam-filled furniture (all those beautiful chairs and couches from big box stores — Pottery Barn, Macy’s, Crate and Barrel, etc.) is treated with toxic fire retardants. An Environmental Working Group study shows toddlers’ bodies have an average of three times the level of fire retardants found in the mothers’ bodies. Dust mites. Naw. Don’t really worry about them but they’ll freak you out if you see one of those little buggers magnified 10,000 times.
